The origin of Twitter
Twitter is a social networking service which enables its users to read and send messages, generally known as the tweets. It also acts as a micro-blogging service and it is totally free. Tweets are based on text post up to a range of one hundred and forty (140) characters depicted on the creators profile page and then delivered to the creator’s subscribers that are known as the followers. Users can receive and send tweets through the Twitter website, called short message service generally popular as SMS. Here the service use costs nothing, only there may be the nominal fees of the phone service provider.
Twitter was created by Jack Dorsey in the year of 2006 and since then it has acquired popularity and notability worldwide. .
Twitter is positioned among the fiftieth (50) most well-liked websites around the world by an unofficial analysis. Although approximation of number of the daily users may vary since the company does not expose the total figure of active accounts. By an another analysis it was confirmed that Twitter, ranked at the third major used social network on account of their 6 million exclusive monthly guests and around 55 million monthly appointments. Twitter had a growth of monthly 1,382 percent leaving behind the Zimbio and Face book with 240 and 228 percent respectively. However, only a percentage of 40, the Twitter’s subscribers are retained
Twitter began at a very “daylong brainstorming session” which was held by the board members of podcasting company,” Odeo” in an effort to crack out of the creative slump. Jack Dorsey during that meeting brought up the plan of a person using a short message service, (SMS) to communicate with any small crowd or group, a thought partly encouraged by SMS group of messaging service TXTMob.
Initially the working name was “Status” to a while. Infect it did not have a name but the process was still on, to give a unique name for its growing market
It was aware that there is a big value in the “name”. It also plays a vital role in the performance of a company. It is just like buzzing the worldwide. So there was bunch of name-storming and at last the “twitch” came into focus. But the “twitch” was not felt as satisfactory as a product name, because it does not match up the accurate imagery. So there was the hunt for words around it in the dictionary and came across the similar word “twitter” a perfect match.
The initial twitter prototype was first used with in the Odeo employees as internal service and later in July 2006 it was launched into a full scale edition publicly. In October 2006, Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone and other associate of Odeo shaped “Obvious Corporation” and got hold of Odeo along all of its possessions—including the Twitter.com and Odeo.com —from the shareholders and other investors. But later on “Twitter”, made a diversion to its own distinct company which still runs on a great scale word wide successfully.
